ABC’s ‘High Potential’: Prestige Junkie Live With Executive Producers Drew Goddard & Todd Harthan, Director Alethea Jones and Star Kaitlin Olson
“Picture any episode of any procedural. Now drop Wile E. Coyote into the middle of it.” That’s how High Potential creator Drew Goddard says he pitched the series — a twist on the genre where Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a cleaner and a single mom, teams up with the Los Angeles Police Department after cracking an unsolvable crime. In a June 2 conversation with The Ankler’s Prestige Junkie host Katey Rich, Goddard, Olson, showrunner Todd Harthan and director Alethea Jones detail their collaboration to adapt a French series with the same premise into something wholly their own. Jones was drawn to the project by the uniquely weird and quirky tone within the tried-and-true procedural framework, but for her and Olson, it’s Morgan’s role as a mom that grounded the show and gave it emotional weight. “That’s the one place where she lets all of her walls down,” Olson says. You can watch High Potential on Hulu.
